Until the final ballot of the 2016 presidential
election is cast, we will be bombarded with political rhetoric and empty
promises. As the candidates endeavor to sway the voters through their
power of oral communication, I wonder about the many words that exit the
mouths of not only ambitious politicians but the number of words each of
us utter every day. Studies estimate that men speak approximately between
7,000 to 10,000 words daily, with women estimated at 20,000 to 24,000
words. (No comments, please!)
Obviously, we know that words can be utilized for both good
and bad. Politicians are quite skilled at crafting words that pledge change,
greatness, fairness, equality, national security, but their words lead nowhere,
and once the election has passed, their words will evaporate like the morning
dew.
There is a voice, however, whose words not only promise
change, and equality but also guarantees peace, salvation and eternal security!
Words that lead to Jesus! These words are communicated by thousands of voices
making-up one voice…the Voice of Christianity! Regrettably, this united voice
falls, too often, on deaf ears since the populace prefers to listen to man
rather than God! The words, for example, from various so-called ‘Christian’
denominations are horribly misleading because they lend credence to political
correctness, while encouraging man to live according to his will, not God’s! By
carefully fashioning words that water-down biblical teachings, and by adding to
and subtracting from God’s Word (Proverbs 30:5-6), people are swallowing many
untruths!! In fact, such religious manipulation is a modern day version of
Satan’s scheming words presented to Eve in the Garden (Genesis 3:1-7). Both Adam
and Eve partook of Satan’s lies and half-lies by dismissing God’s words in favor
of a counterfeit, self-serving version of truth!
Certainly, every person has the freedom to accept whatever
words they desire. After all, we live in a nation that permits freedom of both
religion and speech, and these two freedoms blend wonderfully…… UNLESS you are a
born-again believer! Regrettably, our words are subject to unfair selectivity,
and our aforementioned freedoms are on a slippery slope!
Just look around! When we born-again believers express our
convictions against homosexuality, we are considered prejudiced. When conveying
our abhorrence toward abortion we are deemed judgmental. When truthfully
pointing out religious heresies, we are declared biased and narrow-minded. When
the voices of genuine Christianity declare there is a Living God, teach the
infallibility of the Bible, and proclaim Jesus’ love as revealed in the Gospel
of Jesus Christ, people become riled, angry, infuriated!
When true believers stand firm on their Christian beliefs,
they face growing bias. Remember the Colorado couple that refused to make a
wedding cake for a same-sex marriage, or the couple in Indiana who also refused
to bake the same type of cake, claiming that to do so was a ‘commitment to sin’.
Then there was a Portland, Oregon bakery ordered to pay a couple $135,000 in
damages for refusing to make a similar cake. Astonishingly our nation - once
‘under God’ - granted victories to those who rebelled against the Lord!
It seems that even certain “Christian” words incite
hostility! In 2013, NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” deliberately omitted
the words “Lord’, ‘Savior’ and ‘Heaven” from a well-known gospel song entitled
“Will The Circle Be Unbroken?”. The reason given for these omissions is as
follows. “It was a way of not wanting to offend anyone from the religious
connotations”. If those three words offend, is it any wonder unbelievers detest
the truthful words that inform of God’s love, mercy and grace (Psalms
103:8/Romans 5:8/John 3:16); refuse to accept the strong words that speak of sin
and judgment (Romans 3:23/Revelations 20:11-15), and consider the cautionary
words about Hell and the Lake of Fire sheer fiction? (Revelations 20:15/Mark
9:43-48/Revelation 20:14)
We live in a rotting culture. Crosses removed, nativities
banned, marriage corrupted, sexual morality belittled, life aborted, Christian
values ignored. What’s next - censorship? This is a strong probability since our
society’s concept of tolerance and open-mindedness swings but one way… away from
genuine Christianity and its followers! Does this inequality bother and
frustrate, yes! But most importantly, it terrifies, for as our country grows
increasingly hostile toward those who make-up the Voice of Christianity, lost
souls continue to enter into an eternity of torment! So as long as both Freedoms
stand for every individual, we, the unified Voice of Christianity, will step-up
our efforts to spread the Word of God in an all-out assault to bridge the gap
between sinners and Jesus Christ! As we do so, the following 10 powerful words
should be included in our daily output of words! “I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)
