Subject: Voting
CHRISTIANS, VOTE!
“God bless America, land of the free.”
For generations God’s blessings have flowed throughout our great nation.
Tragically, like many other previous world powers, our great country is in major
decline. Has America gone passed the point of no return? Only God knows. We do
know, however, that God ordained government so fairness and justice would reign
across the land (Romans 13:1-7; I Peter 2:13-15), and that righteous leadership
must be in place in order to honorably and morally lead a nation (Proverbs
29:2). Therefore, we must exercise our duty as American citizens and cast our
votes for the presidential candidate who, according to God’s teachings, will
better serve, “we”, the people!
But before entering the voting booth it
is imperative that we are aware of what God’s inerrant Word says concerning
issues such as God, Gay Rights and family, abortion, redistribution and Israel,
and are familiar with the candidates’ positions on these issues. By possessing
this knowledge we will be better equipped to determine which candidate is better
prepared to become our next Commander and Chief!
GOD:
George Washington declared, “It is impossible to rightly govern the world
without God and the Bible.” Facing serious economic problems, decaying morality
and escalating worldwide chaos, this statement’s unvarnished truth needs to be
seriously heeded and acted upon. No government can best serve its citizens if
God is denied or ignored! Just as the Bible and prayer have vanished from our
nation’s many class rooms, God is also disappearing from our nation. Which
candidate is more likely to acknowledge God? America cannot remain “one nation
under God” if God is missing! “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…”
(Psalm 33:12)
GAY RIGHTS AND FAMILY:
Civilization began when God created one man and one woman (Genesis 2:18-25),
giving them instructions to “Be fruitful and multiply; and replenish
(fill) the earth.” (Genesis 1:27-28) Therein lays God’s blueprint for
procreation (heterosexuality) and the family unit: a man (husband/father) and a
woman (wife/mother). God’s intention is unmistakably evidenced by the
reproductive design of the male and female anatomies; a design that provides
affirmation that homosexuality was never in God’s plan. (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13;
Romans 1:26-28; I Corinthians 6:9). Condoning Gay rights and same-sex marriage
is making a mockery of God’s creation! (Galatians 6:7) Where does each candidate
stand on this issue?
ABORTION:
A child is a gift from God…a gift not to be abandoned! A child is a priceless
reward …a reward to be treasured, not to be aborted! God’s Word firmly embraces
the worth of a child! “Lo, children are a heritage from the Lord: and the
fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalm 127:3) From conception, every human
being is a ‘wondrously made work’, formed by Almighty God! (Psalm 139:13-14)
America needs a President who champions the unborn child’s fundamental right to
life, and refuses to endorse abortion. God grants life, which man will value it?
REDISTRIBUTION:
Scripture clearly reveals that God does not endorse a “Robin Hood“
mentality…’taking’ from the rich and giving to the poor! God instructs man to
work! “Six days thou shalt do thy work…” (Exodus 23:12; Genesis 2:15)
Still, there are many circumstances where we are instructed to help the poor,
the needy. But those who can work, but won’t, are considered by God to be lazy
and sluggards! (Proverbs 6:6-11) Furthermore, God’s Word issues a strong
admonition! “…if any would not work, neither should he eat.” (II
Thessalonians 3:10b) Redistribution will weaken the biblical work ethic that
made America great!
ISRAEL:
God will never turn His back on His chosen people; the people through whom Jesus
Christ our Savior came! “… (God) sent his Son to be the propitiation
(atoning sacrifice) for our sins.” (I John 4:10; John 3:16) As the
Middle East increasingly seethes in a cauldron of intensifying hatred, the next
man filling the presidency should be willing to oppose every enemy intent on
altering Israel’s God-defined geographical boundaries (Genesis 15:18; Joshua
1:4), dividing its territories, dismissing its capitol, and bringing about
Israel’s total destruction. “…I (God) will bless them that bless thee
(Israel), and curse him that curseth thee …” (Genesis 12:3)
As we vote, we must not be swayed by
political rhetoric, poll numbers, race, political affiliation or religion, or
focus on how each candidate may fall far short of our ideal. Instead, we must
vote, despite the candidates’ shortcomings, for the man whose stand is ‘closer’
to God’s teachings and ‘nearer’ to the solid Christian principles upon which
this great country was founded.
Once our votes have been cast, we can
take comfort in knowing that we made an earnest attempt to keep Christian values
within our government, and can rejoice knowing that in spite of the outcome,
Almighty God is in COMPLETE control! (Isaiah 41:10)
