Subject: A Christian’s Vote
Voting from a Christian’s Standpoint
From a Christian’s standpoint, we must pray for wisdom, and
look for the presidential candidate who might be, even minutely, respectful of
God! So with that in mind, let’s look at both Hillary and Trump and their stand
on Christianity, then you be the judge!
Hillary Clinton doesn’t appear to respect God or His Word as
proven by her stand against various Christian issues, including honesty. She
lied repeatedly to the House Select Committee on Benghazi and about the
thousands of e-mails sent from an unsecure server, and she continues to do so
with a boldness that defies definition! When Hillary speaks she is two-faced,
and a habitual liar as demonstrated by her serial perjury, and her deliberate
falsehoods to the families of those who died in Benghazi! A person’s speech
reveals one’s heart. (Matthew 15:18)
Hillary was asked in June, 2014, “If you had to name one book
that made you who you are today, what would it be?” Hillary’s quick response was
“The Bible”, clarifying that she read the Bible, memorized it, and used it as a
guide. She must have forgotten to memorize Proverbs 12:22 which says “Lying lips
are an abomination (atrocity/abhorrence) to the Lord: but they that deal truly
are his delight.” Or perhaps she didn’t have time to read the seven things that
are hated by God, one being “a lying tongue.” (Proverbs 6:16-19)
If Hillary uses the Bible as a guide, she must have ignored
God’s guidance while speaking at the 2015 Annual Women in the World Summit where
she addressed abortion. Did she forget to memorize Psalm 127:3, “…children are a
heritage of the Lord….”, and Psalm 18:30 which informs us that “As for God, his
way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried…” Hillary must have had a memory
lapse. Why else, when addressing the Annual Women Summit, would she claim the
necessity to change religious beliefs, most notably Christian beliefs? Could it
be that her comment about reading the Bible was just another lie?
Hillary is a liberal who calls for liberal changes to
religious beliefs, especially those of genuine Christianity, and she will
appoint liberal judges to the Supreme Court in a concentrated effort to alter
the Constitution in order to push God out and liberalism in! Her platform is a
dangerous continuation of the Obama administration.
Now, what about Donald Trump? When Trump opens his mouth he
can be mean-spirited, rude, and overbearing. He has demeaned women, and speaks
cruel words due to his unbridled tongue. He is pompous and self-centered. He is
verbose. He is impulsive. He is a business man who has manipulated the legal
system to achieve success. He misrepresents and/or deliberately ignores his
failures, along with his various bankruptcies. Trump is a loose cannon,
impulsive by nature. He is totally new to the governing ‘world’ where any day an
event of colossal magnitude may strike. Will he react in a knee-jerk fashion, or
will he heed the advice given by his advisers? And what about his refusal to
release his tax returns. What, if anything, is he hiding?
Donald Trump has also mastered the art of untruths. In his
book, he wrote, “People want to believe that something is the biggest and the
greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an
innocent form of exaggeration – and a very effective form of promotion.”
Apparently it has worked, but has he deliberately exaggerated what he intends to
achieve if elected president? His platform is wobbly due to his flip-flopping on
important issues: minimum wage, abortion, immigration, and taxes.
Donald Trump with his self-absorbed speeches doesn’t appear
to fear men, but does he fear God? It has been reported that Trump has embraced
Christianity. When asked by conservative commentator Cal Thomas “Who do you say
Jesus is?” He replied, “Jesus to me is somebody I can think about for security
and confidence.” Trump further added “…because I consider the Christian religion
so important, somebody I can totally rely on in my own mind.” Are we to trust
Trump’s so-called professed Christian support, and his list of conservative
judges for the Supreme Court, or has he cleverly aggrandized his words in order
to obtain the evangelical vote?
Neither candidate displays a life aligned with biblical
principles! So two questions arise: “Should I vote and for whom?” Human
Government was instituted by God and to vote is being compliance with God’s
Word. (Romans 13:1-6) As for whom to vote for, this is a decision that each
individual must make through very serious prayer since neither candidate appears
fit for the Oval Office. But it is imperative to understand that God in the past
has used, and in the future can/will use, ungodly men of power to accomplish His
purpose! Thus, regardless of who wins November’s election – man or woman,
Republican or Democrat – the president of the United States is NOT the most
powerful person in the universe. GOD IS! Therefore, regardless of the election
results, God is now and forever in total control! “For there is no power, but of
God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” (Romans 13:1b)
